CREATING A TIFFANY PANEL

A pattern is drawn and glass is cut to shape.

The glass pieces are laid out on the pattern and checked for fit.

Each piece of glass is cleaned and then a strip of copper foil is wrapped around the edges and smoothed down.

Once all the pieces are edged in copper foil they are laid out in position ready for soldering.

The pieces are carefully tacked together with solder to ensure a good fit.

Solder is run along every joint to leave a consistent and smooth bead. This also strengthens the panel.

The finished panel is washed and polish or patina applied. Patina changes the colour of the solder to black or dark copper.
